Will the Patriots Miss the Playoffs?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009
Daniel asked:

San Jose, Costa Rica, Sept. 9, 2008 - By now you have heard the devastating news for the New England Patriots, the NFL’s TV networks and the league altogether: Reigning NFL MVP and poster boy Tom Brady will miss the rest of the season after suffering ligament damage in his knee during the Week 1 victory against Kansas City.

Just like that, the Patriots bandwagon is quickly emptying, but you can still bet on whether you think the defending AFC champs will even make the playoffs this year: New England is a -200 bet to return to the postseason on WagerWeb.com.

If you believe in the Patriots and are ready to put your money where your mouth is, that means you believe, at least partly, in a quarterback who hasn’t started a game since high school (Nov. 24, 1999): Matt Cassel. That’s right, the Patriots’ No. 2 didn’t start a single game even in college, backing up Heisman winners Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart at Southern Cal.

Cassel had thrown only 39 passes in his first three NFL seasons before taking over for Brady on Sunday against Kansas City. He was decent, throwing for 152 yards and a touchdown in a 17-10 home victory against a Chiefs team that is arguably the worst in the NFL.
__________________________________________________________________

New England is banking on Cassel’s experience in its complex offensive system and being around Brady for going on four years to be enough to him to manage the offense. Expect that offense to look a little different – less of the shotgun and empty backfield with five wide receivers and more running with Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris, LaMont and Co.

“I’m not trying to be Tom Brady. I’m just trying to be Matt Cassel,” the new starter said. “I don’t know where that’s going to take us.”

The Patriots also have arguably the best receiver in the league in Randy Moss, an offensive line with three veteran Pro Bowlers and, on the other side of the ball and a top-five defense from last year. So they aren’t chopped liver.

“I’m excited to see what our team is made of. … I still like our chances,” Brady wrote in an e-mail to NBC Sports.

Pats backers are pointing to 2001, when then-franchise quarterback Drew Bledsoe suffered a lacerated kidney in the second game of the season, and the Patriots turned to a young QB who had thrown only three career passes in the NFL.

His name? Tom Brady.

Nfl Playoffs 2008 Week 3

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009
Jeffery Reed asked:
__________________________________________________________________

Last week, I was 3 of 4 in predicting playoff winners. I correctly predicted that one of the Manning brothers, would be involved in an upset, but I think very few people saw the other one coming. The Colts loss was the only one that I missed out on.

That loss kind of takes some of the thunder out of this week’s picks. I had Indy upsetting the Patriots and going on to win the Super Bowl. Wrong!! Maybe next year.

With that, let’s get to this week’s picks. Let’s start with the easy game. I don’t see anyone left who can stop the New England Patriots from going 19-0 and winning the Super Bowl. The Patriots will make quick work of the San Diego Chargers this week. This one won’t even be close. The Patriots cruise this week, then rest up for the big finale on Feb. 3.

Now the other game this weekend is very intriguing. The New York Giants are on a roll. They have lost only once on the road this year and they avenged that loss last weekend. 8 in a row on the road and a pretty nice home stand against New England is very impressive. Although the ride has been nice, I think it stops here. I think the cold and the show will be too much for Eli and crew.

The Green Bay packers play well in the cold and I can see Brett Favre going out as a winner. Although I waver back and forth on this pick, one thing is for sure. Being a self professed homer, I can guarantee this one thing. There will be a Mississippi quarterback in the Super Bowl. It will either be Brett Favre from The University of Southern Mississippi or Eli Manning from The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).

The New England Patriots - More Than Players Community Superstars

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009
John asked:

In a truly competitive NFL domain, it is heartwarming to see players do something for the community. Honestly, there just have been so few instances of players being involved in community service. One of the latest instances that the mind could go to immediately is the event where couple of players from the New England Patriots team was honored at the Children’s Hospital Boston event.
__________________________________________________________________
Quarterback Matt Cassel and Defensive linesman, Vince Wilfork were a part of the honoring event. They were honored for their outstanding service to the community and the hospital. “Champion Award” is an annual award that is given to athletes from Boston, who demonstrate and prove a lot of contribution to the society and its welfare. With all the good work done for the hospital, Matt and Vince both won the Champion Award in a glittering yet simple function.

Though, it really is not fair to analyze the reasons behind this award, but it surely would benefit you if you know what made Matt and Vince top favorites to win this award. Both Matt and Vince had visited this hospital earlier this year, and made room-room visits with patients. Ask Vince and he would tell you that more than anything it is his life and events in the past that allows him to do such community welfare tasks. Definitely, both Matt and Vince, share the concerns of young kids, and visiting them in their hospital is a kind gesture indeed.

One may say that such instances are far and few between. Some critics who are out of their senses may also say that players do this to push up their popularity ratings up. In this case, one thing is for sure - Both these players did have nothing to do with popularity ratings. If some reports are to be believed, these players had asked the media not to cover this event, as they wished to keep this low-profile.

It truly was an NFL gathering at that with all the big names from New England Patriots assembling to celebrate the noble deeds of their teammates. President of the Team, Jonathan Krafft, Wesley Britt, an offensive tackler were also seen present at the event. You could see the camaraderie in the team when they were announced to collect their awards. But perhaps, the most touching moment of the evening came when both the players made their speeches.

Both Matt and Vince told the audience on how events in their personal life had led them to do community service. Anyone who would have listened to the speech would have said that it was only their noble intentions that led them to do this. In fact, Vince even went on to quote the example of his father. By the end of the speech, everyone present in the hall was moved, and of course, so were the children.

One may not be able to tell for sure on how Matt and Vince perform on the field. But with this act of humanity, they have gone a long way in establishing themselves in the hearts of the many children in the hospital. Matt and Vince, Way to go!!

New York professional American football

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009
alvina asked:

Based in the New York metropolitan area, New York jets professional American football team. They are members of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC), the National Football League (NFL). They play their home game in East Rutherford, New Jersey Stadium Giants, named after another NFL team, New York Giants. In the Jets officially refer to the location as “Meadowlands”, a name used on all official NFL and team game notes regarding Jets home game.

The club headquarters is located at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, on Long Island. They are building a new training center and corporate headquarters in Florham-Park, New Jersey.

As jets began in 1960 as an act of a member of the American Football League under the name New York Titans. Renamed after Sonny Werblin bought the team in 1963, and later he joined the NFL in the AFL-NFL merger.

In the Jets hold the characteristic of the first AFL team to win the NFL club in the AFL-NFL World Championship Game when they defeated Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.

Franchise History

Originally known as the New York Titans, the team played a home game in the polo grounds. After 5 to 9 in the season of 1962, a team in the future was clear. The group is headed by MCA head Sonny Werblin and Leon Hess, bought the team from Harry Wismer to 13 March 1964, saved him from ruin. Hess eventually bought out his partners, as well as stored solely owned until his death. His estate then sold the team of Johnson & Johnson heir Robert Wood Johnson IV in 2000.

After they took over, the group was renamed the New York Jets transmission of *** grounds for the New York Mets’ Shea Stadium a year later. Shea Stadium is located so close to LaGuardia Airport that the sound of jets roaring overhead was a common sound heard during the game there. The team colors were changed to blue and gold Kelly green and white, which were also color Hess’ gas station.

Exactly one month after the sales team, Jets hired WEEB Ewbank as head coach. He immediately won NFL championships in 1958 and 1959 with the Baltimore Colts, and he was one of the most respected coaches in the game.

2005

In 2005, the season began with the Jets reacquiring WR Laveranues Coles from the Washington Redskins and a CB Ty Law from the New England Patriots. They also acquired free agent quarterback Jay Fiedler of the Miami Dolphins as an expert backup for beginners, Chad Pennington. During the project, Jets traded their first-round selection in the Raider Tight End Doug Jolley. In the Jets used their first choice (2 nd round pick 15) to select Ohio State Kicker Mike Nugent to replace the departed Doug Brien. In the Jets allowed several key role players leave through free agency or trade their underachieving players. These players included Lamont Jordan, Kareem McKenzie, Sam Cowart, Jason Ferguson, and to a lesser extent Anthony Becht.

The aircraft went down during a season high hopes of competing for the Super Bowl, but in three weeks against the jaguars, when Chad Pennington reinjured his shoulder. Their backup quarterback Jay Fiedler was injured six plays after Pennington. On the damage caused by the previous third-string quarterback Brooks Bollinger to take the role as a group for beginners and Vinny Testaverde was brought back to the pension Bollinger as the backup. After a poor showing at the Jets’ offense is at a loss, Testaverde will start Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His steady hand led the offense, and Curtis Martin scored two touchdowns, giving the Jets just enough to get from 14 to 12 victories over the previously invincible Buccaneers.

2009 New England Patriots Fantasy Football Preview

Monday, August 3rd, 2009
Chris Limburg asked:

2008 witnessed the worst possible nightmare for both fantasy owners and New England Patriots fans alike as QB Tom Brady went down with a torn ACL during the second series of the Patriots opener last year against the Kansas City Chiefs leaving everyone devastated and wondering what course of action to take next.  I easily could have been one those owners because I would have selected Brady myself.  I had the 5th pick in my draft and it was going to be either Brady or Peyton Manning with that pick (see my previous article ”Draft RB’s Early: Buyer Beware to see why I go with QB’s first) and the owner with the 2nd pick selected Brady leaving me with Manning at number 5.  After Brady went down Matt Cassel filled in admirably after not having started a game since high school by leading the Patriots to an 11-5 record despite missing the playoffs. Moreover, Cassel helped countless fantasy owners sustain deep playoff runs on the basis of his back to back 400 yard passing performances during the stretch run.  Well, 2008 is behind us kids and the 2009 season is rapidly approaching, Cassel has left to the aforementioned Chiefs, and Brady is expected to be back under center for New England when the Patriots open their season against Terrell Owens and the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. All reports out of New England indicate that Brady is progressing fine but any QB coming off major knee surgery is surely to be rusty as any fantasy owner who had the previously mentioned Manning last year can attest to.  Last year I can assure you that I was getting quite frustrated with Manning’s lack of production as he worked the kinks out so to speak (thankfully I had Chris Johnson, Matt Forte, and Calvin Johnson to weather the storm while Manning re-discovered his groove).  Moreover, Manning’s injury was not nearly as serious as Brady’s is hence the concern with Brady is even greater. On that note let’s analyze the Patriots fantasy prospects heading into the 2009 season.

How effective will Brady be in 2009? Any fantasy owner who drafts Brady expecting him to duplicate his 50 TD season of 2007 is dreaming. Furthermore, like I indicated above Brady will be rusty and it will be a matter of how long it will take him to get back to game form. Do you really want to take Brady if it is going to take him 4-5 weeks to shake the cob webs out?  That time length represents at least 1/3 of the fantasy season and if the rest of your roster is not able to properly hold the fort down your season might be over in the blink of an eye. To Brady’s defense he still has an amazing array of weapons to work with Randy Moss, and Wes Welker in the prime of their careers and performing at Pro Bowl levels.  Moreover, the team also acquired free agent Joey Galloway from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who although old will provide Brady with another outlet when Welker and Moss receive double coverage.  It will be a tough call regarding Brady on draft day depending on how far he falls. I am thinking in my draft Brady will be gone somewhere in the 3rd round. Personally, I am probably leaning towards passing on Brady on account of what I endured from Manning last year. It is tough to play without a QB for the first 4-5 weeks which is what I essentially had to do. In summary, Brady is obviously still an elite fantasy QB but if you take him be leery of the potential risks that you are assuming as he attempts to regain his Pro Bowl form.

The Patriots running attack was much more relevant last year than in previous years due to Brady’s knee injury.  The Pats as a team combined for 2278 yards the most since the Patriots Super Bowl season of 1985.   To his credit former offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels orchestrated an offense last year centered around the running game and short passing game to give Cassel the best chance for success.  For the most part this philosophy worked as the Pats had a nice season considering the circumstances although just falling  short of the playoffs on the last week of the season.   In terms of fantasy potential the Patriots running game consists of a collection of players who will mostly serve as reserves for fantasy owners in 2009.  Lawrence Maroney has been a huge disappointment since Coach Bill Belichick drafted him 21st overall from the University of Minnesota in the 2006 draft.  To start, Maroney similarly to Reggie Bush struggles to run between the tackles and is primarily a sideline to sideline runner.   That is if he is healthy which has been a major crux with Maroney since his inception into the NFL.  Maroney has never played a full 16 games in his career and has never rushed for 900 yards.   Furthermore, he has shown a propensity to fumble which does not endear him to Coach Belichick.   At times throughout his career Maroney has shown glimpses of his potential but all glimpses serve to accomplish are to provide a RB with a secondary role on the bench and fantasy owners with unfulfilled seasons.    Until he steps up and proves he is a consistent threat on week to week basis I want nothing to do with Maroney unless he falls very deep in my draft.  Trust me, you should want nothing to do with Maroney either.  Treat Maroney at best a number 3 fantasy  RB and more realistically speaking more like a number 4 or 5 RB used very sparingly only in emergency scenarios.   The lack of confidence in Maroney led the Pats to sign former Jacksonville Jaguar RB Fred Taylor this off season.  Taylor is a borderline Hall of Famer and is the Jag’s all time leader rusher who immediately provides the Patriots with depth at the position along with Sammy Morris.  Morris finished the season with a career best 727 yards and 7 TD’s and proved to be a valuable asset down the stretch for fantasy owners with his strong play.  However, the addition of Taylor will certainly cut into Morris’ carries so don’t be shocked if you see the former Texas Tech product statistics revert back to what they normally are.  BenJarvus Green-Ellis also came out of nowhere to slightly factor into the Patriots running game last year but will be hard pressed to make the team in 2009 with the addition of Taylor. Lamont Jordan the final member of the Pats shuffled backfield committee from ’08 has left for Denver.   In summary, the Patriots ball carriers will once again consist of a Motley Crue cast of characters who will combine to give the team a nice complement to Brady’s passing attack but none of whom you want starting on your fantasy team in any capacity.

In contrast to their running game the Patriots receiving corps provide fantasy owners with some very solid options on a consistent basis.  Moss is still a stud although he is getting older.  In 2007 Moss posted his best numbers of his career by catching 98 balls for 1493 and a record setting 23 TD’s.  Last year Moss’ numbers dipped but that can be 100% attributed to not having Brady around.   With Brady back in the fold  look for Moss’ numbers to climb once again and continue to treat him as a surefire number 1 fantasy wideout worthy of a pick in around the early to mid 3rd round.  Welker is also a solid fantasy option and on the basis of his last 2 seasons has catapulted up to a borderline number 1 fantasy WR.  Personally, I think Welker is just shy of that distinction and I have him rated a very solid number 2 wide out definitely worth the 4th-5th round pick that it will take to get him.  As mentioned, the Patriots also have brought in Joey Galloway to add some more Jack Daniels to the punch so to speak.  Galloway is no doubt well past his prime but all the NFL GM’s swear that he can still run and if true that will take some of the pressure off Moss and Welker who will now have a third receiver lined up with them that is more than capable of stretching the field.  Is Galloway worth drafting at this point in his career?  It all depends on what kind of league you are playing in, how many rounds are in your draft, and how many teams are in the league.  In my 12 team CBS league which has 18 rounds Galloway will probably be drafted in the late rounds as a flier.  In most 16 team leagues he will be drafted as well and probably a little earlier due to the extra teams involved.  In short, take a chance on Galloway if you want as a reserve and when I mean reserve I mean that he is your 4th, 5th, or even 6th WR on your roster.  He should not be starting under any circumstances not even as a number 3 WR or Flex player.  No other receiver on the Pats roster including Sam Aiken, Greg Lewis, or anyone else warrant draft consideration as of this time.  I would continue on that note when discussing the Pats TE situation.  Benjamin Watson is useless as are both newly acquired Alex Smith (Tampa Bay) and Chris Baker (NYJ).  In short, when contemplating possible starters for your fantasy team in the upcoming months focus on Brady his cast of wide outs rather than the TE’s and RB’s.

Stephen Gostkowski has filled the large shoes left by Adam Vinatieri nicely and is a worthy fantasy kicker.  With kicker’s you are looking for teams that move the ball and score a lot of points.  The Patiots meet both criteria so seriously consider Gostkowski come draft day this August.

The Patriots defense has been aging for years and Belichik knows it and thus took action during the draft a couple weeks ago by selecting CB Darius Butler out of Connecticut and SS Patrick Chung from Oregon.  There is a good chance that both of these players will be starting in ‘09 and they will team with hard hitting S Brandon Meriweather to form a solid young secondary.  The Patriots in my estimation are a middle of the road defense that you should be able to start occasionally depending on their opponent.  They are not by any means an elite unit at this stage but you could do a lot worse as well.

In summary, look for the Patriots star power to rebound with Brady back and to help countless fantasy owners much in the same way that they have for the previous 8-9 years.  Just avoid their RB’s and you will be fine.  Well, that is it for the AFC East.  Next up in my series of 2009 fantasy previews is the AFC South and I will be starting with the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Till next time.   Have a Bud and a smile.

Denver Broncos – Imitating Spread Formations and Passing Attempts is not Illegal!

Saturday, October 18th, 2008
Chuck Berkley asked:

They say original is better, but the NFL has always been a copycat league and Mike Shanahan has acquired from the Patriots historic 2007 offense.

The Broncos sense like the unfasten trend fits their offensive weapons and they are the early season leaders in yards gained and points. Anticipate the heavy passing to continue.

For all those football methodical lovers, who reckon the Broncos’ offensive attack seemed a little like last year’s Patriots, with spread formations and a lot of passes, let me inform that “you know the game and you’re right”!! Offensively, they are matched up with what they were doing in 2007, now the question is…Is it working? We have little disbelieve about the success. The Broncos are 2-0 and lead the league in yards gained and points. Early to make a statement, but seems to be working.

The Broncos have passed the ball at an amazing rate. Cutler threw 50 passes on Sunday September 14th against San Diego, which tied a franchise record. The 2007 Patriots were the highest-scoring offense in NFL history and asking the Broncos to twin their numbers would be foolish, but Denver thinks the wide-open style fits their section and quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates has gotten a lot of recognition for his battle full plan.

We’ve noticed the Broncos also studied the Steelers, Chargers and the Saints who they played on Sept the 21st; these teams are all pass-heavy.

The Broncos have averaged 4.9 yards per carry running the ball, but have been most effective when throwing. In the third quarter against San Diego the Broncos didn’t get a first down. They were a little more conventional that quarter, especially in the second series when they ran twice, threw a short screen and punted… sounds familiar right?

Even with similar plays, Denver has the personnel to employ a pass-heavy offense. The receiving corps is deep enough that Keary Colbert, a high-priority free-agent signee this offseason, was traded to Seattle on Tuesday.

Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley and Darrell Jackson are the top four and Tony Scheffler is a talented tight end. Stokley was on a great passing offense in Indianapolis from 2003-06, with Pro Bowlers Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.

We think, from top to bottom, receiving corps-wise, Denver is way better than in the old days. They’ve got a lot of depth at receiver, a lot of good players. We wouldn’t trade Eddie and ‘B-Marsh’ for anybody else right now in the league. Besides, the Broncos also have an offensive line that has allowed only one sack and that was credited as a team sack to San Diego when Cutler fumbled on a disputed call late in Sunday’s game and believe when we say, it happens!!!!

No matter what the Broncos’ record is this season as their offense should be fun to watch from beginning to end.

We’ve been watching, checking and taking notes on NFL games for years and the fact is that this is a copycat league and everyone looks at everyone, everyone takes plays and squeezes them here and there a little bit, there is nothing wrong with that, bottom line is winning.

Betting Tips

If you are a complete beginner to betting, take some time to learn about the specifics of betting. The two most popular ways to bet are on the money line and the point spread. To put it simply: if you are betting on the money line, then you are betting for the team to outright win. If the team wins, then you win the bet. If the team loses, you also lose. The money line has different odd values for all the games. This means you’ll win more money when betting on an underdog team to win, and less when betting on the favorite. The other popular type of bet is the point spread. The point spread is a form of handicapping in which oddsmakers predict how many points a stronger team can be expected to defeat a weaker team. So if you bet on a team that has a +3 in the point spread, this means that even if this team loses the game by 2 points, you will still win the bet. Similarly, if the team you’re betting on has a -4 point spread, then in order for you to win your bet, this team has to defeat the other team by more than 4 points in their game. Here are some free tips I can give you when betting:

Tip #1 - Money Management

Money management is a very important aspect of betting. You must keep in mind that you should never bet more than you can afford to lose. Once you lose money, it’s easy to fall

into the trap of chasing your losses, which can severely affect your betting performance negatively in a short period. Never bet your entire bankroll in any one bet. To be successful as a sports bettor, you should spread out your bets and work your way through a multitude of games, rather than pressing your luck on just one specific bet that can wipe out your bankroll. If you have $5000 in your account, betting $700 each on 7 games is a much better idea than betting $5000 on any one game. Know how to manage your money and you will thank yourself later on.

Tip #2 - Never Gamble While under the Influence

In the Las Vegas casinos, you’ll receive an endless supply of drinks while you gamble. Place a wager and you can ask for free drinks coupons before you leave the desk. Why would the casinos squander away free drinks for you at their expense? That’s because the casino knows that alcohol will cloud your judgment, and often pushes you to make impulsive decisions that you normally wouldn’t consider. To be successful at sports betting, you need to function with a sober mind. It’s a good idea to stay away from betting when you’ve had too much to drink.

Tip #3 – When in Doubt, Play the Home Dogs

Betting on the underdog playing at home has consistently proved to be a quite successful basic betting strategy. When a team is playing at home, they are pushed by the crowd to

perform much better than their normal capabilities. You’ll find that more often than not, underdogs will find a way to cover the spread and win you the bet.

Tip #4 – Time your Bets

The point spread does change throughout the course of the day/week. If you are going to bet on an underdog, the best time to bet would be as late as possible. If you are going to bet on the favorite, the best time to place your bet would be as early as you can. Of course, this strategy doesn’t work 100% of the time, however it’s a good rule of thumb that you can apply toward most instances.

NFL Betting System

Here’s an NFL Football betting system that I’ve developed and tested over the last 10 years for consistency. You can expect to win at least 63% of the time using my betting method:

1. Take a look at the NFL schedule for the week and see who are the underdogs playing at home. Click here for a good site to check for the NFL schedule.

2. For the underdog team playing at home, take note of the team they are playing against. What you want to do now is compare the stadium surface of the team playing at home against the stadium surface that the away team is used to be playing on. Click here for a good place where you can check the surfaces of all the NFL teams’ stadiums.

3. If the underdog team playing at home is playing on a different type of surface than the away team’s home stadium, then bet for the home underdog team in the line spread to win.

Basically, the betting strategy here is to bet on the underdog team playing at home versus a team that is not used to be playing on that stadium’s surface type. Always bet on the point spread, not the money line.

For example, if the Cleveland Browns are playing at home versus the New England Patriots, and the Browns is the underdog in the game, then you will place a straight wager bet on the Cleveland Browns in this game because the Browns’s stadium has a grass surface, while the

Patriots’ home stadium has a turf surface. The Patriots are more used to the turf surface that they play on at home, therefore their chances of winning notably lessens when they are playing on a stadium that has a grass surface. My NFL betting system is a very basic system that I’ve developed to consistently win on football betting over the long run. If you follow my betting guidelines above, you can expect to win more than 63% of the time you place your NFL bets!

NBA & MLB Betting Systems – Win Over 97% Of Your Bets!

If you thought that my NFL betting system is incredible with its 63% winning percentage, then you’re going to be blown completely away with what I’m about to tell you next! Over the last 5 years I’ve spent untold hours researching the sporting database in a pursuit to develop a foolproof sports betting system. Years ago, I completed my research and cracked the code to a mind-blowing MLB and NBA sports betting system that are so incredibly effective, it has gone above and beyond every one of my expectations for a dependable winning formula. Whether you’re a ******** gambler, a sports enthusiast, or just someone of no interests in betting or sports but wants to make a pile of extra cash every day doing the easiest job in the world, you’ll absolutely fall in love with what I’m about to spill to you. Several times a week, I’d log into my online sports book account and make bets on the particular teams that I’ve statistically calculated to have an exceptionally high chance of betting success. Each win often pulls in over $1,000 into my account. Not bad for a 5-minute job! I win over 97% of my NBA and MLB bets. Go back and read that again. I don’t play games – out of every 50 bets I place for the basketball and baseball leagues, I win on about 49 of them!

The more success I had with my betting system, the more I felt the urge to share my remarkable experience. The greatest secret of betting profiteering struck me one day after

years of scrupulous research. I practically skyrocketed my bankroll overnight, and over the course of the next few years, turned my ingenious discovery into a sadistic cash generating machine.

My betting record is a testament to just how powerful the system is. Tom Brady - New England Patriots

Thursday, September 25th, 2008
Chuck Berkley asked:

He can win Super Bowls, post big numbers and sell your product, whatever, the greatest QB of this generation. Now, do not get me wrong I think Tom Brady is a great QB. He is cool in the pocket, he has a speedy manner and he can make any throw on the field. How often do you see Brady running for his life? How often do you see Brady put in terrible field position? Brady has been blessed with not only a fantastic line, but also a great defense, superb coaching and front office. He is great, but do not crown him just yet. Throughout the entire ’07 season, a mastery of the offense and basic knowledge dropping back had allowed Brady to simply step up whenever his pocket would collapse. However, against the Giants, Brady stepped up into the congested middle. There’s your pattern. I **** this debate and to diverge from the title, but you always have the guy that says “well Marino was a great QB”…true, but he did not have any rings. So by that justification Trent Dilfer with his Super Bowl was better than Marino? Certainly not!! So how do you rank the greatest QB’s of all time? I do not believe you count the rings and crown the winner. There are twenty one other starters on that team and for the guys with a lot of rings they were all surrounded with Hall of Fame players. I love Troy Aikman but, I could name ten other quarterbacks I could stick on those Cowboy teams of the 90’s and they could have won three Championships. The thing could be said for Terry Bradshaw and even Joe Montana. So, Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks of all time and he does have three rings, but, if we put Payton Manning on those same Patriot teams, I would guess he could have three Championships too or not? Hmm ok, let’s compare if Peyton Manning is better than Tom Brady. Yes, Brady’s indestructibility and Manning’s exposure in big games have evaporated. Let’s not allow this to cloud the bigger picture. Brady leads Manning 3-1 in Super Bowls. For people who truly believe that football is all about winning (you’d be surprised how few people are really like this) the debate ends here. For swaggering armchair quarterbacks who marvel at Manning’s command of the Indy offense, understand that Brady has essentially the same power in New England. He just doesn’t use it on every down. What’s more, up until last year, Brady had been doing more with less. Aside from Corey Dillon in ’05, Brady never had a leading rushing attack behind him. He didn’t have two superstar receivers like Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison to throw to. Once Brady did get those weapons, he destroyed the record books. This, by the way, pulled the plug on the argument made by all the fantasy geeks who, for years, have chattered about how Brady’s numbers are undersized by Manning’s.

How to Pick a Bad Fantasy Football Team?

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008
Bill Parsons asked:

Pick kickers early!

We’ll start with the obvious, and there’s no sign more glaring that a fellow owner spends too much time watching Joey reruns than picking a kicker in the 7th round. Seriously, if you’re expecting Jeff Wilkins to outscore most decent second-tier wideouts on a regular basis, you’re destined for Flushing Meadows. Consider picking your first kicker sometime after the World Series celebrations are over.

I gave up studying in college!

What, me study? Yes indeed: you study, Geico pitchman. If you think a quick glance at 2007 stats is enough preparation for your draft, consider applying for a job with the Lions organization. Seriously. You know why the Lions haven’t sniffed the playoffs since Wayne Fontes got canned? Matt Millen no study. It’s true. See 1996-2007.

I haven’t seen a doctor in yeeaaaars!

So you don’t like to read the injury report? Who does!? Injuries can be so gruesome, and it’s hard to tell if Mike Shanahan is telling the truth. Actually, it is: if an injury concerns a Denver player, don’t worry. Unless of course it’s a running back, in which case grab anyone else from Denver with RB-eligibility, especially rookies. It’s written into the NFL bylaws that the second-string back in Denver hits 1,000 yards each year.

Autodraft is your friend!

Autodraft is your friend in the same way that Jesse Jackson is Barack Obama’s buddy: Jesse may make you feel like a brother in arms at first, but if you don’t keep an eye on him, your nuts will be cut off faster than Drew Peterson’s line of credit at a gun store. You’d best be protecting your nuts, if you know what I’m sayin’.

Don’t pick the enemy!

It’s a well-known fact that the bad karma generated by rooting for your home team’s natural enemy has caused the loss of many a close NFL game. Vikings fans with the Bears D **** to root both ways on game day, and many a Patriots fan has been left with a Peyton Manning dilemma.

The rule is: no matter how good the player, if he plays for the enemy, don’t pick him! Leave him for somebody else, and pick a Titans running back instead. Whew! (Special note: this rule does not apply to Lions players and Chiefs wideouts, who generally don’t affect the outcome of

NFL games.)

I can beat the experts!

Why drop another $12.99 on a so-called “Expert Draft Package” when you’ve got all the information you need in front of you? Seriously, you add up that $12.99 over say…8 or 10 seasons, and you’ve got yourself a free league entry fee. Plus, you can have the enjoyment of knowing all those other suckers got ripped off by a team of guys who can’t possibly do this for a living. Can they?

Um…Okay, so I’ll listen to just one expert!

The only mistake worse than not reading any expert advice is reading only one expert. Why? Because he could be wrong. Seriously, dead wrong. More wrong than Bill Clinton as the “first gentleman” in the White House. And honestly, despite the morbid fascination of seeing a first husband hit with adultery charges, who do you think really wants to see that?

Grab that extra QB early!

Drafting too many too early of any one position with the hope that you can trade one is like playing hooky on a half-day of work. While it’s always fun to play hooky, you can’t help but think you might just have blown an opportunity to make a better choice. While you’re waiting to find a trade partner three or four weeks into NFL play, review the draft board to see who you could have had instead. Take your shoes off before you kick yourself.

Live in the past, not in the present!

Mushin Muhammed and Ricky Williams have ruined more recent sports fantasies than the new female ESPN field reporters. Seriously, are we supposed to believe that fat ***** actually played a sport at some point? Do we really want to picture her as a nose tackle for the boy’s high-school team?

Living in the past and telling your wife you don’t mind Disney films are surefire ways to end up with a sour look on your face. Don’t pick this year’s Mushin or Ricky.

Ignore the rooks!

This ain’t chess, man! I don’t need rooks! Not true, fellow owners: while it’s true that rookies almost always have less impact than a congressional hearing, there’s room for one or two on any squad. An exception is rookie QBs, who are like tapioca pudding: you’re wise to pass them by unless there’s nothing left on the shelf.

Let the ***** pick!

Aw, isn’t that cute? The wife wants to play? And what, she used to go to school with Ahman Green at Nebraska? Aww, shucks, let’s pick him. Nicely done. That pick should earn you some scolding on the message boards. Pick a decent sleeper when she gets off your lap to catch the latest Desperate Housewives update. Or better yet, tell her to schedule her nail appointment for ten minutes after your draft starts. Even if she watched football in college, she was probably drunk and with another guy, and you don’t want to think about that.

Um…who’s the coach again?

Failing to respect the impact that the coaching staff has on a team is about as dumb as hitting on tall ****** at a WNBA game. You deserve to get your *** kicked for both. Draft a RB on a Belicheck-coached squad and you’ll be blessed with the kind of mediocrity that graced CBS in the 90’s…and…um…the 2000’s so far.

Bye weeks: give everyone a break at once!

Another surefire way to sniff the toilet biscuit is to draft without considering the effect of bye weeks on your roster. Sure, you might get lucky and draw the Perennial League Loser (PLL) during the week when you’re resting both starting RBs and your QB, but the shame of losing to the PLL should outweigh that optimism.

Schedules are for die-hards!

Man, with so much to worry about, why bother figuring out who’s got the most difficult schedule? After all, performers perform, right? Right. Ask Rudi Johnson what he thinks about playing the Baltimore D twice in one season. And any guess why Stephen Alexander’s always smiling? For starters, he plays Arizona twice a year…

Lack of preparation has already begun for this year’s Toilet Bowl. Best of luck, owners!

Nfl Football Betting

Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Todd Price asked:

NFL Football Betting is hugely popular amongst sports betting fans that are able to place their sport bets on both their favourite NFL team each week and on who will come out on top in Super Bowl betting.

The New England Patriots will again dominate super Bowl XLIII betting odds this season as they look to make amends for stumbling at the last hurdle in their quest for the perfect season when upset by the New York Giants in Super Bowl 42.

NFL Football Futures Betting gives you the opportunity to bet on your team early with many New York Giant fans winning big with their sports betting wagers on the Giants before the season kicked off.

The NFL is made up of two conferences, the American Football League and the National Football League and football betting is available on each and every game of the NFL season including the preseason games and all playoff games.

Some of the more popular NFL Futures bet props taken include betting on which NFL team will win their conference, which team will take out their division and which team will be crowned Super Bowl Champions.

Did you know that 3 is the most important number when it comes to NFL Football betting lines? This is because teams can run down the clock to get a last second field goal to break a deadlock.

The NFL Football betting is available on the following teams:

AFC North – Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers

AFC South – Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Oilers

AFC West – Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers

AFC East - Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets

NFC North - Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings

NFC South – Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFC West – Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, St Louis Rams

NFC East – Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins
